  This one’s special. Jason Schwartzman is Anderson’s mid-career Jean-Pierre Leaud looking like if Kubrick stayed in photography in my favorite performance of his since Rushmore. A youthful Jake Ryan brings Schwartman’s lack of boyishness into relief but his maturity suits him. The stage is set in a postage stamp-sized cowless cowtown, but the characters and dynamics make it a suburban microcosm.   Pretty unsettling to watch on a flight where you’re in the air for five hours and arrive eight hours later.
