This slow burn of a horror film masterfully builds to crescendo of dread. The climax is a killer. One of the best TV movies ever and one of Hooper’s best works.

After Hours 1985
This was certainly the ur-film that inspired numerous films that take place over the course of one night where a bewildered protagonist(s) undertakes weird adventures and encounters strange folk. Both more quirky and strangely less narratively satisfying than the comedies that would follow in its wake. Admittedly, I’ll probably love this film on a future viewing.
