In Bruges 2008
I have seen dark comedies and this isn't one. Strings of puerile edgelord attempts at humor in a bath of incoherent haha-so-random nonsense. There's a really interesting movie hiding somewhere in the script, but instead all these talented people spent so much energy on low effort "jokes" about dwarfism, race, and sexuality, with no deeper wit than the repeated "lol Americans". I didn't get this film.
After I watched it, I had no idea why it was given Best Picture or Best Screenplay. Only after I read DirkH's review did I get any sense of appreciation for what this was all about. But all the understanding in the world doesn't change that this thing made no sense to me when I saw it.
