  When I saw this movie was about a low level Japanese bureaucrat I thought to myself it was either going to be very meandering and kinda wack or beyond goated. Well, it's one of my favorite films now. Life changing even. I don't know if I can really explain the emotional grip this film had on me. It could be being handed a death sentence by your doctor, or maybe Takashi Shimura's just perfect performance as Kanji Watanabe, or maybe…
