Call Me by Your Name 2017
felt like a surface level film that tried to use vague statements to make people think some incredibly intelligent point was being made. the age gap is so unsettling idk how people can see this as a love story. i do think it’s a good representation of figuring out your sexuality and that first queer situationship that fucks you up for life, especially as it’s portrayed in the end. side note this is somehow the second movie i’ve watched this week that uses love my way by the psychedelic furs twice throughout the film and it did scare me a bit.

how are you going to open the movie with two girls making out to “(you) on my arm” by leith ross and have the main story be about her falling in love with a man named chad instead. idk as a lesbian it just rubbed me the wrong way how much it was like “wow i thought i was gay but then i met The Perfect Man” even down to the joke about dick sex. like i still cried at the end bc im an Empath but i was also still seething with rage bc wtf??
