The real deal. Fascinating guy, unbelievable skill and talent was surely tapped into some higher power. I love that he just ditches the filmmakers to go climb some insane mountains without telling them, an unintentional fuck you to the slightly exhibitionist nature of some other climbing docs. Of course this makes for a less dramatic documentary that’s slightly disjointed but I don’t mind that, for me it just adds to the magic of Marc-Andre. I could watch Leclerc climb all day and found myself utterly mesmerised at some of the prolonged clips. He surely is the Mountain GOAT 🐐

It’s ok to sleep with your dads ex as long as she’s hot. Was holding out for an FBI bloodbath where Blake goes on a killing spree but alas.. no dice.

Sherpa 2015
Important story about an incredible people. I would have preferred if it wasn’t so heavily centred around the western relationship to the Sherpas as the documentary itself seems to fall victim to the same western-centrism, a byproduct of its production origins, a problem that’s surrounded Everest since it’s initial summit by Tenzing and Hillary. I’ve never understood why people desire to climb Chomolungma/ Everest but I felt the documentary did a half decent job of highlighting the ridiculous dinner party trophy…

Ad Astra 2019
2 hrs of Brad wanking himself off on screen, some cool space fight scene quite early on and a real shame brad didn’t get killed off during it. Would have been much more entertaining if it was a film about space pirates but in hindsight it wouldn’t be able to compete with treasure planet. Some good set Design/cgi and cinematography but not enough to redeem brads painful monologues and awful storyline.
