I really wanted to like this movie. And despite having low expectations after the trailer, I really tried! But it fell so short in so many ways.
Cynthia Erivo’s singing is the star of the show, but her character felt flat. Ariana Grande is just doing a Kristin Chenoweth impression (I’m not sure she could help it given her talent for impressions). Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh are unfortunately AWFUL.
Despite the extravagant set pieces and intricate costuming, it just doesn’t look good. The CGI and *especially* the lighting is painful.
At least everyone had fun, I guess!
