American Graffiti 1973
Things in this film that transcend time:
- the effortless manipulations and devious plots of sixth graders
- true crime obsessives wandering the woods at odd hours
- Harrison Ford
Things in this film that do NOT transcend time:
- going to the airport and parking your car ON THE RUNWAY next to the airplane???? seriously wtf I can't believe they actually used to do this

Harold and Maude 1971
So much to think about with this one...
I'll just say this movie gives a perfect snapshot of a time and place that is very dear to my heart which is the Bay Area in mid winter. The misty days, the puddles, the mud, the beautiful leafless oaks and then just the greenest hills you will ever see...
People like Harold's family still exist around here. They converge around the SF opera house at dusk on Fridays, and then they vanish. I have never seen them in the daytime. There's prolly a cave in Hillsborough or Pac Heights where they roost all day like bats.
