  Self-pleasing work from Baker. Outlandish to the extent that the intended realism sabotages itself with uninteresting archetypes, phony empathy (of sex workers and of inferior economical classes) and shallow relationships.

  It was about the 50-min mark where I’ve realised that I’m quite literally experiencing two films: one that I can see and one that I can hear. Both communicating the reality of the time but from different ends.

  In such a film, you can’t really allow the audience to feel any comfort. This is perhaps why in the opening sequence, the scene of the family at the river is preceded by the loud darkness. Or just as how Höss’ time…

  Poor and ignorant filmmaking, not difficult to pickup the blatant racism towards Turkish people, hence, really anyone living within the premises of the Middle East. Emotionally manipulative to push the agenda that is the combination of faintly-felt themes. Not to mention they didn’t even bother to get actors that can speak proper Turkish. A Hollywood toilet break.
