A happy ending. That is as rare as what John found in and with Gheorghe.
I liked the 'repetition' of their key insults (terms of endearment, rather) at the start of their romance and up to the their final meeting. This device was executed beautifully; a de facto acknowledgement of what they wholly are.
I really liked the contrasts: simple versus complex; top floor versus basement floor. Most of all, from fear, Chihiro found and reveled in its strongest contrast, love.
