Overlong, tedious and at times devastatingly poorly written. There's a skeleton of something really special here though. I really enjoyed the last temptation-esque approach to messianic struggle, it just falters under its own lack of direction and inability to commit to its storytelling. Some scenes really truly feel grandiose, almost mythical, contrasted with some great shaky-cam-isms that really bring an intimacy to Clark. This movie ponders the line between wow the world can really fuck a dude up, and I'd bully the shit out of this freak. Excellent usage of cinematography, colour grading, score and lead performance just can't save this movie's writing from being nonsensical garbage. I can understand anyone who's only seen blockbuster trite seeing this as some monumental film, but the fact is, it brings nothing to the table that isn't better executed by a movie that isn't tied down by its source material. It's an almost perfect movie to nitpick, brb while I go storyboard a version I think would be better.
