A very solid film, but I don’t know if it ranks among Nolan’s best.

Pattinson’s performance is really good. Not his best, but good enough to justify my belief he is one of the best actors on the planet. Alternatively, I think John David Washington’s performance leaves a bit of something to be desired. In some scenes he’s awesome and really sells it, but in others it comes off like he’s just reciting a script. The guy from Yesterday gives…

Not as good as the third but also hurt by the fact that Eric Andre has been evolving the Borat shtick for the last 6 years. Greatest ending in cinematic history tho.

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a movie more than this one. From the writing to the directing to the acting (holy living fuck the acting) it’s just so fucking good. Joaquin Phoenix gives the best performance I’ve ever seen recorded on video. His performance alone would justify seeing this movie. It’s that good. I’m planning on seeing it again, just because I know there’s a lot of little things in Phoenix’s performance that I missed.

This movie feels less like one continuous story and instead a bunch of different scenes in the lives of an actor and stuntman trying to survive in a changing Hollywood. However, this is not a bad thing. The movie works incredibly well this way, and the pacing is never a problem. This kind of framing mechanism allows for more interesting situations and allows the performances to shine - which they do. Pitt is ridiculously good, and DiCaprio delivers what might be his best performance ever. Overall, definitely one of Tarantino’s best.
