This movie clearly and openly expresses the debaucherous culture surrounding the German army and it’s effective line of propaganda to get young men to the front lines. After following the story of 4 young men who head straight to the front line, the bleak setting of reality erupts onto screen as the sadness and devastation on each of the withered soliders faces takes over. This a great depiction of the reality of WW1 and it’s terrible affect on all sides of the fight.
The Gray was a better than average action movie, with an original take on a ghost operative who has to do what he must to protect his ‘family’. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with cliche action movie explosions, cut aways, notorious bad guy and closing fight scene between the protagonist and antagonist. The soundtrack mixed with the cinematic based shots combined well for a netflix based movie. Overall, it’s a B-Grade bond film, still worth the watch.
I thought this was an entertaining film but didn’t see much for the future of Marvel which is always disappointing when watching MCU. Chris Hemsworth was comical and did a great job in this ‘romcom-esk’ action movie and all supporting actors where great, apart from Natalie Portmans “Eat my hammer”.
Great movie, even as a stand-alone, captures the essence of top gun and the enigma that is a cult action film.
