Reminiscent of Grand Budapest in the best way, though framed and contained like French Dispatch. I’d rate it just barely under the former and above the latter. Incredible, characteristically affectless performance from the all-star cast. Some blunt but strikingly profound lines I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Set design + cinematography is classic Wes Anderson-Robert Yeoman though the frames felt slightly sparser than his other films, likely because of the setting. Desplat score sounds suspiciously like Mr. Moustafa from Grand Budapest — not that that’s a bad thing. 3.75/5
