whew looks like a the majority of y’all that watched this were able to overlook the confederate flag in the interview segments and the clear confederate/racist sympathizer sentiments in “the night they drove old dixie down”. it must be nice to be white and be able to overlook these aspects and still call it a great film. Black folks don’t have that luxury.

linklater knew what he was doing here and the execution of his vision was the closest thing to perfection. i truly don’t think many DO dialogue like linklater DOES dialogue; it’s always so real that you forget there’s a script and it’s not just people conversing in front of cameras. there is so much to be discussed about the portrayal of parents as people. parents were people before they were parents and in virtue of becoming a parent, they give up so much of their identities as PEOPLE. when the mom says “i just thought there was more”… that line says it all.
