definitely borrows a lot from Close-up & had some interesting bits exploring the use of imagination in negative space but also felt like it didn’t need to be a full length film
definitely appreciated the dissection of the true crime genre though and had some laughs about that

first off it was fun to participate in this from afar!
after seeing Exhibiting Forgiveness, we chose this because of André Holland’s acting & to prioritize seeing something that might not have a big screen release
It was fun & explored the theme of moving on/forward in life and used the metaphor from the Bible of pillars of salt from Sodom & Gomorrah
overall, it was well done but slow and didn’t fully explore the potential of what it set up for itself at the beginning
a shining example of subtext!
maybe one of the reasons this isn’t being given high accolade by Western audiences is the fact that it makes one look in the mirror at our own privilege, delusional naval gazing and complicitness in our world’s decline
George Mackay gives two of the best performances of the year between this and The Beast
this did what very few movies are capable of - make a movie just as epic, if not more than, the book
