A masterpiece. An epic tale of humans and our insatiable desire for “progress” that offers no easy answers. Miyazaki’s characters are so complex and fully realized that no one can truly be named a villain. That’s what’s so special about his storytelling (among so many things) - he respects his characters and his audience, creating space for complicated realities and resisting lazy tropes of good vs. evil/nobility vs. depravity. Mononoke also has some of Ghibli’s most stunning animation and one of my favorite Joe Hisaishi scores. If you get the chance to see this in theaters, take it.

The Sixth Sense 1999
Bummed cause I immediately guessed the twist (I’m usually v bad at that) but still a good movie. Some of the best child acting I’ve ever seen and my queen TC 🥰

Poor Things 2023
Dope cinematography and an impressive performance by Emma Stone ruined by a shitty, blatantly pedophilic plot masquerading as feminist
