This has been in my YouTube watchlist for too long…
Nice to watch and be reminded of how many movies I’ve yet to see and how I should be taking more risks and pushing the image more. I’m lucky that I get to do what I do!

I was a bit tired, so I didn’t fully follow everything, but I got the general gist. I was disappointed though overall by how slow and honestly boring it felt. Great performances and craft overall – loved the black and white cinematography; shooting anamorphic and cropping to almost 1:1 is a super interesting look. But, I guess this just wasn’t for me.
Out of Kubrick’s older movies, this was the one I was most excited for... Unfortunately, I found it to be very boring with dialogue I barely understood and hardly funny (the one thing I actually thought was funny was the “Führer joke” towards the end). The only reason I’m not rating it lower is because the cinematography was solid (I’ve definitely gained a further appreciation of black and white films by watching these movies), and I can understand how it must’ve been revolutionary/impactful/polarizing when it came out.
Q&A w/ Halina Reijn and Nicole Kidman
Nice lighting, a good soundtrack, and well-cut montages. But, too much Botox, too much handheld camera, inconsistent focus pulling, and characters I don’t care about unfortunately left me bored.
(Was wondering when someone was gonna shoot at 1245 Broadway. Always thought it was an interesting building.)
