Nice narrative with much more subtext hidden in the filmmaking choices than the actual story/dialogue. Will need to rewatch to properly pick out stuff. A lot of the cultural stuff was unfortunately inevitably lost on me.
Absolute mastery in camerawork. It's extremely rare that you get to see such perfection and control over mise en scène and movement in even one shot, but every single shot of this movie is perfect. Just watching a sequence play out is like a masterclass in film; you can see the whole scene being constructed piece by piece, pretty much a visual reflection of the thought process behind creating the film - it's all natural, and perfectly intuitive. Perfectly dreamy and mesmerizing. Most of the runtime feels like a genuine escape from reality, it's soo easy to forget you're watching a movie. Beautiful cinematography and direction. One of my favourite movies.
