Writing seemed to fall apart in the second half. What even was the point of Kai’s character? How did Nasha win the election by a landslide when her trial was apparently so divisive? Why was the “Committee” suddenly the pillar of morality in the end, when they clearly knew they installed an abusive narcissist leader in the first place? Why were 17, 18, and Nasha brought the War Room at all (besides as an excuse to move the plot forward)?

I felt my heart ache while watching this film. Shinkai perfectly captured the immense feeling of longing that tugs at your soul as the memories of perfect dreams start to fade away.
