It’s the greatest American film ever made and at this point there ain’t nothing that’s gonna convince me otherwise. It’s a poem, it’s a sitcom and oh shit it’s also a rom com and a proper western, hell for three brief but wonderful moments it’s a musical. Effortlessly hits all those lovely Hawksian notes. The presence of Wayne, the sincerity of Dean Martin, the hilarity of Walter Brennan and the elegance & tenderness of Angie Dickinson. All these wonderful things because Hawks saw High Noon and it pissed him off, hah. Endless charm, pure perfection.

My Darling Clementine 1946
Gracefully captures the poetry within a way of life. As funny as it is mournful, as charming as it feels tragic. Nobody did these things quite like John Ford.
Somehow gets better with every rewatch.Translated from by

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp 1943
So so effortlessly captures the strange mixture of beauty and sadness within the passage of time, through friendship, with charm.
