My (not midwestern) partner had to watch me (a midwesterner) cackle with glee during every excellently CGI'd tornado. Three stars for all the weather, and another star for Glen Powell in a damp white tee. Minus a half star for the disbelief I had to suspend to watch so many Oklahomans get into their cars during an EF-5.

I don't know -- something about this didn't quite do it for me. The premise is great, the characters are interesting, and I'm always good for commentaries on the fundamental loneliness of individualism. But the predictability of the story weighed on me after a while. Some elements (particularly towards the end) felt treacly -- almost Hallmark. Still, it's an earnest and giving movie about human connection. And extra points for the frenetic pedometer walks by Jung Ryeo-won. <3
