Anne Hathaway sobbing opposite that man giving it only 30% max was surreal. What was even weirder was her getting back with him (NOT a happy ending). Also there’s a scene where it looks like she’s maybe trying to seduce her 70yo intern, which is very funny. But now that it was brought up was it cowardly of the film to not follow through? I don't know.

the girl who played young lily did an amazing job. everything down to the way she moves her lips was a perfect model of blake lively. the use of blake lively’s wardrobe was really distracting and out of place. overall the story i think kind of romanticises DV (in the sense that lily gets to be a tragic character but still gets the unconditional support of everyone around her and it is ultimately a romance between her and the man who “saves” her, which i really wish it wasnt) but i assume thats not the film’s fault, bc its based on a book.
