A Quiet Place: Day One 2024
Nice sequel! It’s what I was originally hoping for in the 2nd movie. The first movie is so great bc it places you in the already-destroyed landscape with no one around— so the biggest question you have is how people learned to survive in such a unique way. The third movie does a great job answering this in a creative new setting with characters in a completely different phase of life.

I was hoping this would be a good modern tribute to the themes of the original, but the added sexual aspect just felt like the director wanted to add r pe scenes to an already adequate plot. The cinematography has so many beautiful call-outs to exact shots from the original, so I was dissapointed in Egger’s choice on how to change the plot. If he was truly trying to make some kind of commentary on sexual assault, why did it feel fetishized? The women felt far more sexualized than the men. There was just a weird obsession overall with the “purity” of Ellen for her husband.

Rly good book; could’ve been adapted as well as Deathly Hallows Pt 1 or Hunger Games but still a good popcorn movie.
