Nosferatu 2024
robert egger’s crowning jewel. this thing is firing on all fronts. drenched in a very monochromatic style. the candle lit sequences reminded me of barry lyndon. the blocking here also doesn’t get enough credit the camera movements here were absolutely fantastic. i was levitating during the last 20 minutes - the score is one of the best this year. had dune 2 not released this would be my film of the year

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
Crackhead filmmaking - a film that while not topping fury road, stands alongside it confidently with some of the most exhilarating set pieces i’ve seen in a blockbuster. Incredible world building that strengthens the already impeccable fury road. It’s surprisingly the most visually stunning film I’ve seen all year, taking a more digital approach from fury road but making it all the better. No one is operating today like George Miller. One of the few directors today who has the credits to proclaim himself a mastermind! Go see this on the biggest and loudest screen possible.
