Great noir set in tenement NYC. The copy and the bad guy are from the same Italian-American hood. Mama makes soup for any and all. Ya gotta eat! Very dramatic and really delivers; one of the best of the genre.

This is certainly a one-of-a-kind film, Dennis Hopper unleashed. Linda Manz is brilliant, original and really very likeable. It's all pretty gruesome and enjoyable until the last two scenes. In hindsight I suppose I shouldn't have been as shocked as I was, the ending makes a lot of tragic sense and even adds to the film's brutal depth. ... Best (and last) line (i'm probably getting a few of the words wrong}: "Don't worry mom, this is just a punk rock prank. There's nothing behind it. "
