    I kept procrastinating watching this quintessential blockbuster for a looooong time, probably because on the back of my mind I had this constant feeling of "there's no way this holds up, it's a shark film, what is possibly tense or engaging about that? Just stay away from the water dummies!"

    It's no doubt messy, but for what it wants to be, it accomplishes it pretty well. I was also grateful for them not taking the easy route of just mocking the Fox films, and actually showing a soft spot for them. Those were definitely not particularly good movies as a whole, but I greatly appreciate them not being cynical over that.
