Not sure why it took me so long to get around to this movie, but I’m so glad I gave it a chance! On paper, it’s right up my alley; I love stories that explore familial relationships in an interesting way and I can’t resist a charismatic old man. This movie incorporates both those elements to the max. I can’t think of another film that does a better job of depicting the relationship between a private father and an inquisitive son. This thing had me in tears by the end. Probably my favorite Tim Burton movie.
