caught the end of this on TV… it’s so basic in its blocking and dialogue or whatever but they execute it well right? the lighting in the low-light bits is so gorgeous…

like thematically it was marvellous. kind of a bit much for me aesthetically? i guess i’m just not a horror girlie. the first part was a neat exploration of male vulnerability and i guess it was dark and overwhelming for that reason, but it was quite dark and overwhelming. and it was cool conceptually how EVERYTHING felt really hopeless thereafter … and i guess a film doesn’t have to be enjoyable to be successful. idk one of the later themes…

huge admiration for how full-throatedly this asks “what if the mushroom at the end of the world was Man”. performances were stellar too, bunch of dysautonomic lil autists. obviously Kristen was amazing but i didn’t know Viggo could be so feminine. also love a film that knows when to end!!
