What piqued my interest the most was how Chance was readily accepted by the elites. How is it that no one picks up on his childlike mind? Is it because of his nice suit, his race, his personality or because of the combination of all these things which are commonly associated with a “successful" person?. Would they interpret his comments about gardening as wisdom had he not been white? Most probably not instead a POC would be pretty much institutionalized.…

Some of the reviews are spot on but rated much higher than I would. Talking abt how capitalism ruined the older generations, the compassion for eachother, etc. I agree w all that. There's a feeling of loneliness and sadness to the film and the manner in which these themes are explored is something that i really liked. Having said that this film totally lacked engagement for me and i'm not sure why. i also cant help comparing it with the other similar movies that i love which are simply better.. The straight Story, Easy rider, Into the wild, etc.
I may enjoy it more on a rewatch

Shows how fragile we are as humans, how adept we're at self sabotaging our lives. Both the lead characters are very relatable, they are human just like You and me, all they wanted is to be happy but as it turns out in doing that they've just been sowing the seeds of Misery, thats what makes it tragic and relatable. Easily one of the best movies about addiction. Great acting, Great music..going to rewatch soon
