Although the high stakes and unexpected ending kept me on the edge of my seat, there were a lot of elements of the story that went over my head.  I had to look up what a lot of papal terms meant and that’s coming a lot from a girl who went to Catholic school for 12 years.  I wish they explained the procedure more through action or dialogue rather than leaving the audience confused. It’s funny after all of the religion classes I’ve taken I’ve never learned the specifics as to how the pope is elected.

This movie won many Golden Globes, so I just had to watch. Wow. From the storyline to the directing, it was a great film. I especially loved the hidden messages within the dialogue that did not feel on the nose whatsoever. Carefully written with detail leaving no stone unturned (pun intended)! I can’t wait to read the script! Definitely recommend if you haven’t seen. It does not disappoint.
