  Cinema Paradiso 1988

  A film not in English, and made before 2000, this film really put me out of my comfort zone. It was a really good film and the story was very moving. I love the relationship dynamics of the chosen family and seeing Alfredo and Toto's relationship was so wholesome. The only weak point about this movie was the relationship between Toto and his mother, I would have loved to see a bit more of that and often times it seemed like she was relegated to the background to the extent that it seemed like Toto didn't care about her at all.

  It was so refreshing to see such a brilliantly animated film, I absolutely loved the art style and the stop motion elements. The story was really moving and I could relate to so much of what the characters went through. The way they portrayed neglect from parents and the consequences of that later in life was just so real and the fact that you know Mary still loved her parents so much. I just think towards the end it got a bit too dark for my taste and it sort of made me uncomfortable. Overall though I really enjoyed watching.

  Im sorry but am I supposed to root for her when the entire movie is pretty much about how she is a terrible parent to young kids who have gone through the trauma of losing their father? Imagine if they didn't have papa don in their life they'd be some neglected poor kids.

  The Big Lebowski 1998

  It was a very fun watch. Before going into it I read about it a little and from what I gathered I expected it to be funnier than it actually was so that was slightly disappointing. It's a movie about the characters and generally those don't go down well with me but this is a pleasant exception.
