The Substance 2024
it is very rare that a movie has me so invested the first 2/3 of the runtime and then utterly derails in the last act. felt like the director didn’t know how to end it so they went with absurdism and cheap shock. what started as a good satire about a prominent yet simple theme turned into an illogical mockery of itself that overstayed its welcome.
wish it would have been a short film. wish it would have handled the theme with more care. wish it had literally any other ending.
