played the first half to have something on while i painted my nails, finished it a couple days later because how could i not. it really does put me in my feelings about love the way no other film does (i realized on this watch that i, too, really am fond of walking and anyone who loved me would have to know that). felt myself involuntarily start saying the lines during half the scenes lmao, i fear i am close to having it fully memorized

a perfect movie !!! it’s hilarious and heart-wrenching and some moments hit so close i almost cried this time. it doesn’t villainize jess’s father for his overprotectiveness (i forgot how much he emphasizes that his hesitation doesn’t concern her gender as much as it does her race and the abuse that she could be subjected to for it) nor her sister for being normative, and even her mother isn’t completely caricatured. and the soundtrack bangs ! the soccer scenes set…

this was interesting to watch as a former high school feminist when feminism began to be corporatized. it was insane to see the reactions of their classmates to even the slightest pushback on social norms by girls who were still white, wealthy, and conventionally attractive. i wanna know more about the brown girl.
