  Lots to like, very silly and funny and I really enjoyed the world. Some of the choices regarding narrative chronology didn't make sense to and the tone was a little bit up and down, but I loved Ruffalo, Collette, Pattinson, and Ackie in their roles.   A pretty by-the-book psychological horror film. The titular stop motion is amazing, but the story is somewhat lacking and Ella is not a very convincing or interesting character. The mother/daughter stuff is a big too on-the-nose and not really developed enough. No shade though, it kept my attention throughout and despite mostly boring writing the performances are good, especially the little girl!

  1. This movie first posits that shitty indie pop will drive away eldritch terrors, only to then reveal that actually (and more accurately), shitty indie pop is what summons them to our dimension.

  2. Why is anybody praising the sole performance in this movie when our lead actor is about as dynamic and emotive as Plank from Cartoon Networks "Ed, Edd, and Eddy"
