Personally resonant for the stirring depictions of India and specifically Marathi language dialogue. At times the “art house, long, pensive shots” grew boring but the acting is superb. Each of their journeys brings depth and a unique heartache.
Special mention to the doctor for immeasurable yearning and the chef for sublime comedy and independence.
Violent thrill ride with a load of recognizable faces early in their career. Christopher Walken shines in his cameo. Overall not especially compelling.
Polarizing score, with what sounds like glockenspiel and xylophone, but I liked it. Gave a chaotic film some whimsy.
Enjoyable blend of playful Hindi movie tropes and a more western gaze. A satisfying watch, and one that captures the “is it all happening around me or happening to me” immersion of a wedding.
In favor of a 5 song playback soundtrack, the movie has been scored beautifully, with 90s hits setting the scene just as well as Abida Parveen and Mohammed Rafi.
