I think I tend to rate things mostly on the film/show's emotional impact, that being said, Look Back is a perfect storm of great qualities in my eyes. The animation is not just technically impressive but stylistically beautiful, a love letter to art much like the story. What the fuck?

    American Fiction

    ★★★½

American Fiction balances it's satirical social critiques and the personal lives of its characters masterfully. While some would argue the message of the film leaves much to be desired, its clear that a profound revelation isn't what the movie is aiming for. What it does aim for is to be entertaining, which I felt it certainly achieved, because it manages to be both light in tone and fairly witty in engaging with serious topics. American Fiction is a rewarding (and fairly easy) watch while getting the conversation started.
