I don't know, man. It was just enjoyable. I like how these kinda shmaltzy biopics depict songwriting in this like Sid Meier Civilization tech tree ass way, like one of your boys creating a masterwork in Dwarf Fortress. Also, Timmy and Monica did a great job. I would argue this wasn't great man, but great fuckboy mythologizing.
