    on one hand, its a fascinating meditation on the finite nature of our existence on this Earth; one of our most well known monuments being engulfed slowly by the unrelenting darkness of time.

    on the other hand, its a static shot of the empire state building for 8 hours.

    watched the Pure version.

    an aesthetic exploration of the modern internet landscape; capturing ideas of online voyeurism, community and anonymity to highlight a growing disconnect from the reality around us.

    that said, it's all executed with a level of absurdism that you can't help but revel alongside with. that Burial soundtrack is incredible, he needs to release that shit on streaming NOW!

    you either get it or you don't.

    the only thing i got out of this were the sometimes otherworldly visuals; emphasis on the sometimes, cause for some reason, someone decided to smear A.I. gunk on every minute or so.

    honestly, my biggest issue stems from the lack of ambition here. the thermal camera effect paired with the video gamey surreal visuals, it's genuinely incredible how seamless the fusion was at times. but underneath the candy-coated visuals, i couldn't help but feel a critical…

    loved so much about this. Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, Dennis Quaid, the direction, the editing, the soundtrack, the set design, the costumes, the friggin' makeup!

    but i especially wanted to focus on the world-building. the movie's tone paired with the fairy-tale approach to it's ruleset allowed me to really sink into the reality being presented. they explain just enough to allow your imagination to wonder while never overcomplicating it. the choice to visually show the clinical process rather than ever explain it verbally was perfect.

    imagining the Academy voters watching the ending to this film fills my heart with so much glee :)
