pretty disappointing tbh. just not a great quality movie. the cast is the most appealing thing about it, but nobody is really used to their full extent. not even Paul Rudd could save the movie like what! he didn’t add anything to his character and I think that’s because the movie was written poorly and had poor direction. Will Poulter was the most entertaining one.
there was one bit about halfway through the film that gave good horror vibes and that was when j found myself most invested in the movie.
overall I wouldn’t recommend this or rewatch it.

Fuck this is such a great film. No matter how many times I watch it I’m always entranced by it once they reach the catacombs. The lore it’s revolved around has always interested me and I think that’s a big reason I’m such a fan. The philosopher’s stone, alchemy, the catacombs and their mysteries, the layers of hell that can be compared to the different rings of hell talked about in Dante’s Inferno - all make this such a strong film that never gets tiring.
