The French Dispatch 2021
Not his best movie. Definitely my favorite of his movies.
As much as I hate journalism, I love this movie because of its views on Journalism. Howitzer’s love of writers is shared by the movie, and speaks to me very personally. Also, Francis McDormand’s comments (and actions) regarding journalistic integrity are excellent both comedically and as an actual commentary of the plausibility of journalistic integrity. I need to own this and watch it over and over to form real thoughts on its myriad subtext and minute detail.

I think the thing I hate the most about these remakes is the soulless sanding down of the original animation’s charm into bad CG. Don’t get me wrong, CGI and 3D animation have a genuine charm and place in the movie industry; that place is not in replacing traditional 2D animation.
