“This crude matter”!! I love how bodies are especially at stake in this installment of the trilogy. Everyone is worn the fuck down. Aside from Vader’s chronic disability, Luke endures grueling physical trials the whole time, C3P0 ends up in pieces, and the most handsome man in the galaxy is tortured and then trapped in carbonite. Even the Falcon can’t quite make it into hyperdrive.
Until Cloud City, everything is cold, dark, and “slimy mudhole.” Such a great turn from the Dune-inflected Tatooine and the sleek space stuff, and fitting for the trauma of unearthing family lineage.
