A triumph of direction, a cinematic masterpiece, and scored in swelling majesty by the ever-talented Maurice Jarre. A film is only as good as its acting, and Peter O’Toole delivers a sharp and compelling performance as T.E. Lawrence, a man torn between the orders of his country, and the gripping lure of the desert and its ancient inhabitants. An epic film of regal beauty, I could only hope the run time of nearly four hours was doubled.
