the first bit of this movie was dragging. it has some really cringey parts. but I did really enjoy the whole fate theme throughout the movie. I thought it was honest and palatable. their relationship was cute and relatable. the ending really needed some work though. overall I enjoyed it, think i’ll read the book after reading everyone’s reviews.

this film has me torn. on one hand I love historical biopics, I think it’s important to know these stories. on the other hand it’s another white saviour film. I wish ann/taraji was more focus in the film. and I WISH *spoiler* Ann had gotten the last vote to pass the integration. yes it makes sense to build the suspense having CP/sam vote last, but it would have been beautiful for ann to get to walk up to the podium…
