I don’t know if the narrative structure was necessary. I wish it focused more on the couple’s development leading up to the cancer. If it was in chronological order I feel like the ending wouldn’t be as expected. I just knew how it would end so then I wasn’t emotionally as drawn to the story. I also didn’t really like Almut’s character for a majority of the film. Parts of her made me actually not sympathize with her. The acting of both leads was excellent obviously they are both amazing I just feel like the plot lacked something.

the first 30 ish minutes were the best part. it was fine but they were just talking at me too much. the story wasn’t really clear but the message was. just a lot of dots I couldn’t connect it felt like Barbie’s life was resolved but I still needed more closure to the story. I wish the mom and daughter added more to the story too. but the set and costumes love love love. the choreographed dances and Ryan Gosling singing was a cherry on top though.
