  surprisingly engaging for a 3.5 hour long movie. the fire alarm went off midway thru and I still went back in the theater and finished the movie because it’s that good

  I have such a love-hate relationship with the Appalachian region, and this film externalized a lot of those mushy feelings. Part of me has always been ashamed to say I’m from the south, which I now realize is an insult to the people who raised me. I’ve never seen a film that has granted rural people this kind of humanity and understanding. I didn’t realize how rare that is, or how much I needed to see it.
