  Absolutely mental. The special effects, especially for its time, are top-notch, and the sound design is so damn amazing. May be a hard watch for some due to the absurdity, gore, and sexual themes, but it’s worth it to see this.

  I’m at a loss for words. Bitter seems to be a good way to describe this movie. It is intense when it needs to be, and works well with it’s theme of self-image. I will most definitely need to rewatch this at least once more, if not many times over, to truly soak it all in and analyze it to the fullest extent of my capabilities. I consider this to be a masterpiece.

  A Trip to the Moon 1902

  While not particularly engaging due to films available in the present, I do wonder how high it was held in the time following its initial release. The background artwork is mystical and charming, and I love the costumes they utilized. Méliès does have distasteful stuff in some of his films, which in my opinion shows here through the portrayal of the Moon’s native population, yet this short watch is worth it for how significant it is.
