garland portrays the motley crew of journalists as the last cowboys on a disappearing frontier with no interrogation of those same tropes. just as the “american cowboy” erases the reality of indigenous ppl, so too does the liberal idea of “objective journalism” erase notions of morality. the violence portrayed here is removed from any real context, reinforcing the false notion that violence enacted by the oppressor and the oppressed are equivalent. ultimately this movie serves as little more than visual spectacle than political or social commentary.
