Pulling out an antique of cinema out of the shelve for a new audience is daring and demands courage. The beautiful composition, production design and costumes brings you closer to a well known Victoria era World. This is where Egger is strong, in bringing you to his World. But time to time I felt bored, as if he wasn’t being creative or inventive enough. He seems to be fixated with the sexual link between predator and pray.
If the vampire represents a metaphor for death, I find this version a bit necrophilic.
Great cinematography.
PS: why does Orlock travel through ship? Wasn’t his Castle in mainland?
