Remarkable. Incredible. I don’t quite know what to say. I walked out of the theater and sat quietly on a park bench across the street for a while — thinking about what to do with my Sunday evening, staving off an only-mostly unrelated anxiety episode, wondering about my life and the people in it and the curious ways little things become consequential.
I was moved by what Past Lives said and asked about love and purpose, existence from moment to moment and across decades. What does it mean to leave parts of yourself in your past? What can it look like to return to them?

I registered and appreciated some of what this movie was doing/saying about culture and perception because of a bit of reading up ahead of time. It generally worked for me, especially the ending scene. Juxtapositions playing with perceptions, hysteria … You didn’t see, you couldn’t have seen, it doesn’t matter either way because your perception and reality are not truly tethered. Cool shit.
